Manufactured in Germany, byHermle Black Forest Clocks, this antique-style wall clock, features a wrought iron case with twisted columns and an off-white, almond-colored dial with roman 'sname is visible on the front plate of the movement. There is a tag on the frame (below the movement), that says, "Tempus Fugit" (which are latin words for "time flies"). The 8-day weight driven passing bell strike movement has a matching antique style weight, pendulum, and bell. This model (the LESTER) and another model (the STAMFORD) are equipped with a better quality clock movement, than some of the other skeleton wall regulator clock models, that Hermle offers. Unfortunately, there is no silencing feature on this clock. The bell will ring once, with each passing hour. The sound of the bell, can best be described as a lighter, "ting" sound. The bell is not as robust as the antique skeleton wall clocks, used to sound like (with their very thick brass bells). The sound of the bell is pleasing to most ears.
